Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

This policy explains what happens to information when you use PDF2MDTool, operated by Zhongying Shi ("we", "us"). It covers the site at pdf2mdtool.com.

1. Your PDF files are not sent to us

The converter runs entirely in your browser. When you choose a PDF or paste a direct link, the file is read by JavaScript on your own device using Mozilla PDF.js. Its contents are not uploaded to us or to any server we control. We cannot see, store, or recover your documents.

Two consequences are worth being explicit about:

2. Information we do collect

We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect names, addresses, or payment details through the converter. The limited information that is processed is:

3. Cookies and similar technologies

The converter itself does not require cookies to work. However, this site does allow third-party services (described below) which may set cookies or read device identifiers, including through local storage and similar technology. You can block or clear these through your browser settings; the converter will continue to work.

4. Third-party advertising and affiliate links

This site contains third-party advertising and affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and go on to make a purchase, we may receive a commission. This costs you nothing extra.

To make this work, third-party companies involved in these programmes may:

We do not control those cookies and we do not receive the personal data behind them — we see only aggregated reporting such as counts of clicks and conversions. Advertisers and affiliate networks are independent third parties and their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.

5. Analytics

Where analytics is used on this site, it is used to understand which pages are read and whether the converter works for visitors. Analytics data is reviewed in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individuals.

6. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Because we hold very little data about you, in many cases the practical answer is that we have nothing to hand over or delete. Where we do hold something — for example an email you sent us — you can ask us to delete it, and we will.

You can also limit tracking directly: block third-party cookies in your browser, use a private browsing window, or use an ad or tracking blocker. None of these will stop the converter from working.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Data retention

Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes. Contact emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the enquiry, after which they may be deleted.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change with it. Material changes — particularly anything affecting how advertising or data collection works — will be reflected here rather than buried elsewhere.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy, or requests relating to your data, can be sent to [email protected]. See also the contact page.

Plain-language summary: your PDF never leaves your device; we keep no conversion history; this site carries third-party advertising and affiliate links, which may set cookies through the companies that run them; you can block those cookies without breaking the converter.
